#8 last week’s pens: week 11 of 2026
This week concluded another blue-heavy week, along with the ongoing mood for bright colours in fine nibs. TWSBI ECO is the leftover from last week, and I can feel I am getting over it. It’s missing from the pictures because I lent it out the moment I finished the ink in it... Rohrer & Klingner Salix kept this week’s ink palette grounded, while the two bright colours let me match the mood of the bright, sunny weather that you rarely get here. I inked the Pilot Custom Heritage 912 knowing that it will be a two, maybe three-week adventure we’ll be taking together. I also suspect that this might end my ongoing mood for fine nibs. We’ll see what the future brings!
This week’s inked is familiar with a bright colour palette, let’s get into it!
TWSBI ECO Cement Grey -EF- Rohrer & Klingner Salix
Whenever I use this pen and ink together, I turn into a cowboy with a 60’s pickup truck slapping the hood and calling it “the ol’ reliable.” This pair is simply ready to handle anything anytime. While it is carried over from last week, I did not find my enjoyment of them is diminished, it’s too old of a friend to get bored of.
Sailor Pro Gear Slim Winter Sky -MF- Diamine Mediterranean Blue
When a lovely blue ink meets a generous nib, magic happens. The nib on this pen is one of the most middle-of-the-road nibs I own, it’s not dry nor wet, not smooth nor feedbacky, right in the middle of fine and medium. This also makes it special with its own writing experience, and a basic ink with a beautiful colour accentuates this. Another familiar pen and ink, never used together before.
Pilot Custom Heritage 912 -F- Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-budo
I inked this pen for an exam last week, trusting the performance of the dry iron gall in an EF nib with the copy paper. It did not disappoint, and I managed to cram all my writing (and even drawings!) into the allocated spaces. The downside was that I was stuck with this overly businessy ink. Thankfully, it has been a writing-heavy school week, and I took this pen to every single one of my workshops and lectures, so there isn’t too much left.
Thank you for reading!
