#9 last week’s pens: week 12 of 2026
This week brought lovely pinks and lilacs with a side of business-casual blue. I’d say it has been a successful ink week, as one pen is completely finished and very little is left from the other two. All three will get cleaned nevertheless, a fresh start is necessary now that the mood for fine nibs + saturated inks has worn off for now. There are two new whims I want to indulge: a broader range of nibs inked at a time, and using more shimmers. I didn’t realise how much I missed using shimmer inks, and now that I inked one, I cannot stop.
I get the most enjoyment out of my pens when I can be impulsive with it, and limiting the number of pens inked has been helping me change inks more often. Let’s get into it!
TWSBI Diamond 580ALR -M architect- Dominant Industry Pearl Lavender
This pen is simply amazing to put shimmer inks in, and the wet architect nib balances the lightness of the Pearl Lavender well. The fine silver shimmer compliments the light pink-purple base colour of the ink, showing only when it catches the light directly. Despite enjoying this pen, I’ve been growing to realise that an architect nib simply doesn’t suit my writing very well, and I tend to rotate the pen to get to a line variation. The cursive and round letters I tend to favour do much better with stubs instead of architect nibs. Still, this was the first pen to run out of ink this week, because the pair is extremely fun to write with.
Lamy Safari -M- Teranishi Guitar Melancholic Blue
These medium nibs from Lamy tend to be generous, and this is not an exception. The ink itself is a saturated blue with a reddish sheen, and it is an interesting enough colour that I can justify having it among the deep blues. Unfortunately, this colour family is not my favourite, and the rest of this little sample will go to my boyfriend, as he loves these blues. I did use this pairing often, especially since the Safari is common enough that it stays inconspicuous in school.
Pilot Custom Heritage 912 -F- Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-budo
Using this pen for two weeks really made me get over the fine nib & saturated ink combination. I’ve been using this pen for everything, and considering how little ink it uses, I’m very happy that I didn’t get anything more than a half-fill. After close to 10k words with this pair, it’s time to clean up and ink new stuff.
Thank you for reading! Enjoy this shot of the Dominant Industry Pearl Lavender while it’s drying, this is such a magical ink!
