#7 last week’s pens: week 10 of 2026
This week brought a balance of two blues and a pop of orange. The Leonardo MZG was by far the most enjoyable pairing, with the amazing resin, smooth EF nib, and the Sailor ink. I don’t have much experience with Sailor inks, and I was very happy to see that this one holds up to the stellar reputation. The two TWSBI’s are reliable writers as usual, though they didn’t feel as exciting at times. Overall, the colour palette worked quite well, the orange and the blues make each other pop off the page, making for very fun colourful notes.
The biggest upside was that a busy week made sure that I used up two of the pens, and the TWSBI ECO will be carried over to the next week with very little ink left in it. Let’s get into it!
TWSBI Diamond 580ALR -F- Colorverse Cotton Blue
Despite being a lovely ink in my most comfortable pen, equipped with the nib that shows off my writing the best, I did not find myself reaching for this pen often. Still, the ink in it is finished except for a single drop, so I’ll take that as a win. Sunny days call for bright inks, and the pastels seem to have taken a backseat for now.
Leonardo Momento Zero Grande 2.0 Imagination -EF- Sailor Fontoplumo Orange
This is my Fontoplumo fangirl moment! I seriously love these creamy resins Leonardo has been putting out over the past couple years, and this orange is not an exception. The regular MZ size fits my hand very well, and the Grande gives that “big pen” feeling with the familiar shape. The ink matches the orange of the pen perfectly, fitting the first sunny days of the year. Initially, I hadn’t loved the colour of this ink, but over the week it really grew on me.
TWSBI ECO Cement Grey -EF- Rohrer & Klingner Salix
I inked this pen for an exam last week, trusting the performance of the dry iron gall in an EF nib with the copy paper. It did not disappoint, and I managed to cram all my writing (and even drawings!) into the allocated spaces. The downside was that I was stuck with this overly businessy ink. Thankfully, it has been a writing-heavy school week, and I took this pen to every single one of my workshops and lectures, so there isn’t too much left.
Thank you for reading!
