#11 last week’s pens: week 21 of 2026

It has been super interesting to finally track my fountain pen use somewhat consistently and observe the changes. Before this, I only had a vague idea of how far the seasonal theme in my ink use went, but it’s becoming more and more apparent. Last week brought the brightest reds and blues with a shimmery green. This palette was balanced enough that I rotated through the pens often, and only a single drop of red ink was left when I was cleaning out on Sunday. I think bright coloured inks, comfortable grips, and the subtle variety in nib feel while keeping the width in a very usable range did it for me. A lot of moving parts, all working perfectly together. I count this as a success, and will attempt to replicate the balance of pen + ink in the future.

I seem to be having a moment with shimmer inks, considering that the shimmer pen was already empty by mid-week. Maybe it’s time to increase the shimmer inked pens to two... Let’s get into it!

Lamy 2000 fountain pen filled with Diamine Wild Strawberry fountain pen ink.

Lamy 2000 -F- Diamine Wild Strawberry

Lamy 2000 has a large ink capacity, and combined with a wet F nib, it goes for a long time. It got me through lectures, workshop sessions, and heavy-duty essay writing. I wrote out my presentation in this pen because the bright red was legible even when I left my notebook on the desk and got up to present. Comfort, legibility, and cheerful colours make this pair a huge winner. I am already tempted to ink it up again.

Scribo Piuma Impressione fountain pen filled with Robert Oster Australian Sky Blue fountain pen ink.

Scribo Piuma Impressione -F- Robert Oster Australian Sky Blue

Is this ink that different from the DOZEN other bright blue inks I have? Not really. Did I buy it because I trust the flow of Robert Oster inks? Yes. The nib of this pen is on the softer side, and needed a little adjustment for a while, as I bought it used some time ago. When it came back, the only thing left was to test it. A bright blue Robert Oster ink was the only way to go. It’s nice to have this pen in regular rotation.

Franklin Christoph Model 02 fountain pen filled with Robert Oster Tulip Fields fountain pen ink.

Franklin Christoph Model 02 Copper Line –F- Robert Oster 2023 DPS Tulip Fields

I’m genuinely having a moment with shimmer inks, and my inner magpie couldn’t have been happier. I was expecting this ink to be a brighter, grassier green, and I am pleasantly surprised to see that it’s slightly darker, letting the gold shimmer contrast more. I admit I used up the full fill in 3 days, but hear me out. The nib on this pen is so wonderfully smooth that it was impossible to not enjoy writing.
