Weekly carry-around #2

(10/04/2023 – 16/04/2023)

I’ve decided to start a new series in the blog to track which pens (and pencils!) I’ve been using this week. A manageable 7-pen rotation: 6 in a Galen Leather pen case to be carried around or set on my desk, one pen attached to my journal’s loop in my bag. Pencils, because I use them to scribble on margins. I’d like to mention the books I’m reading and the video game I played the most. The only way for me to track stuff is write it down, and well, that’s what I am doing. All of these are mostly in my bag at all times anyway, hence the carry-around.

Only one limit: I have to describe everything in 2 sentences.

Pens

Galen x Studyo Agackakan V1 -MI- Troublemaker Milky Ocean: This pen is gorgeous and comfortable, but what made it a staple in my rotation is the medium italic that was ground by Galen Leather. I was hesitant about Troublemaker’s dry double-shading ink; not any more.

Pilot Custom 823 -M- Pilot Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo: A year later, this pen is still always inked. It’s the pen I pick up when I don’t know what else to use.

Scribe Pens Custom from Omas L’Aqua di Bologna -F- Sailor Yama-dori: This is a huge pen in my hand, which will take some time getting used to. The ink matches really well with the pen’s material nicely, otherwise is not noteworthy for my taste.

Lamy 2000 -F- Diamine Peach Haze: Bright, flowery (fruity?) colours make me happy in the sunny days of the spring. The nib shows off this ink pretty well as it is still narrow enough for my daily use and wide enough to let the bright orange shine through.

Sailor Pro Gear Realo -HF- Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-budo: After a couple of refills, I’m at the end of my Yama-budo journey for now. Even though I was hesitant about buying this pen, as I’m not head over heels in love with Sailor nibs, nowadays I’m pretty happy that I did.

Leonardo Momento Zero Prisma (Stiloestile exclusive) -soft fine- J. Herbin Corail des Tropiques: For some reason, this pen screams “ink with pink” to me, and well, I oblige. The ink is lovely, though this was the last refill I had from a small 10ml bottle, and I doubt I’ll buy another one.

Kaweco Sport -F- Pelikan 4001 Koningblauw: My purse/backpack pen that lives with me, mostly used in school. The ink matches with the use-case pretty well, considering that I have to write on a variety of papers on a daily basis.

Pencil

Blackwing Natural: I like this pencil as my reading pencil due to the eraser. Even though it’s not the best, it gets the job done for small corrections.

Reading

Mistborn: The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson (fiction): I’m still thrown off that the first book in a series is named “The Final Empire.” Other than that, it’s a fun book to read, even though I almost gave up on it on one scene as I’m not really in the mood for grimdark.

Excel cash flows and legislation (non-fiction): It counts! It’s done with eyes, it’s reading!

Videogames

Harvest Moon: I got some new Nintendo Switch games after years of playing the same three. This game is a super calm, low-stakes game that gets me through migraine days without needing any brain power.

Mario Party: I have so many good memories from playing this game on a Nintendo DS on my way to elementary school, so I jumped on the opportunity to get one at a discounted price. It’s different and I lost at the very last round after being the first for most of the game, but it was a fun couple of hours.

Thank you for reading!
